About the Role:

Due to expanding business operations, we require a qualified and experienced Payroll and Accounts Officer to join our team in Fannie Bay (Darwin) NT. The role will initially be part-time 2 days per week, with possibility of extending up to full-time hours in the near future. The role will predominantly cover the following:

  • collecting and processing timesheets and managing weekly payroll run;
  • entering new employees and maintaining employee records;
  • administering employee contracts, onboarding paperwork and WHS induction records;
  • processing monthly superannuation and tax payments,
  • award interpretation and general payroll queries;
  • accounts payable;
  • accounts receivable – entering new clients, weekly and monthly invoicing, maintaining client records, chasing overdue payments;
  • monthly bank reconciliations;
  • assistance with BAS preparation;
  • payroll and accounts dashboard reporting;
  • collaboration with company Accountants and Business Advisors;
  • general administrative duties will be required from time to time, and there may be opportunity to be involved in recruitment and other HR and WHS activities also.

Our Ideal Candidate:

This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about payroll and accounts and can work consistently in a standalone capacity. Our ideal candidate meets the following requirements:

  • Holds formal Australian qualifications in accounting or bookkeeping;
  • Has strong working knowledge of MYOB (essential) and Xero (preferable);
  • Has 5+ years experience in a similar role that covers both accounts and payroll in a standalone capacity;
  • Has knowledge of and interest in Human Resources and/or Recruitment;
  • Has sound Microsoft Office suite experience (preferably Office 365);
  • Is up-to-date with current Fairwork Act/ employee legislative requirements and competent in Modern Award interpretation;
  • Holds Workplace Health & Safety qualifications (desirable);
  • Is a fast, efficient worker with excellent attention to detail;
  • Is a strong team player with good work ethic;
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills; and
  • Has own transport and valid drivers licence.
